Xiaomi's 15 Ultra Smartphone Leaks Reveal Leica-Inspired Design and Impressive Camera Specs

Xiaomi's latest flagship smartphone, the 15 Ultra, has been leaked in official renders, revealing a design that takes inspiration from Leica cameras. The phone's rear finish features a round camera cluster with duo-tone white and rough-finished black vertical strips, giving it a striking resemblance to a traditional Leica camera.

The leaked images, posted by Android Headlines, show the phone's large, round camera protrusion and Xiaomi branding in the corner, making it look like a camera when held sideways. Although the new renders do not reveal a shutter button, previous leaks on the Chinese social media site Weibo showed a hand holding the phone like a camera with a finger placed where a shutter button would be.

Xiaomi has already teased the 15 Ultra's camera capabilities by releasing a sample photo taken with the new camera system, which is rumored to feature a 200-megapixel periscope system. The company's CEO, Lei Jun, confirmed that the 15 Ultra will be launched at the end of February alongside the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.

A spec sheet for the Ultra obtained by Android Headlines reveals a quad-camera setup, including an optically stabilized 50-megapixel primary shooter, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, a 50-megapixel 3x optical zoom camera with optical stabilization, and a periscope camera with 4.3x optical zoom. The phone will also feature a front-facing 32-megapixel camera.

In addition to its impressive camera specs, the 15 Ultra is expected to come with a range of high-end features, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 5,410mAh battery, 90W wired HyperCharge charging, 80W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The phone will also have 16GB RAM and 512GB or 1TB storage options, depending on the region.

The 15 Ultra's display will feature a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a 3200x1440 resolution and a variable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz. The phone will also include an in-display fingerprint reader.

Xiaomi has previously experimented with Leica-inspired designs, including a concept 12S Ultra that uses a full-size Leica lens and a camera grip kit for the 13 Ultra. The company's partnership with Leica has led to significant improvements in its camera technology, and the 15 Ultra's specs suggest that it will be one of the most capable camera phones on the market.

The launch of the 15 Ultra is highly anticipated, and with its impressive camera specs and Leica-inspired design, it is likely to be a major competitor in the high-end smartphone market.
