TCL Unveils 60 XE Smartphone with 'Max Ink Mode' for Enhanced Reading Experience

TCL has taken a significant step in enhancing the reading experience on its latest smartphone, the 60 XE, with the introduction of 'Max Ink Mode'. This innovative feature allows users to switch to a monochrome mode, reminiscent of e-ink displays, providing a more comfortable and distraction-free reading experience.

The 60 XE, a North American exclusive, boasts a 6.8-inch full-color display by default. However, with the simple flip of a slider on the side of the device, users can enter Max Ink Mode, which not only transforms the display but also silences notifications, ensuring an uninterrupted reading experience.

This feature is made possible by TCL's Nxtpaper display technology, which aims to reduce glare and provide an E Ink-like experience. The company had introduced the "Nxtpaper key" on some phones last year, but it never made it to the US market. With the 60 XE, TCL is bringing this technology to North American consumers for the first time.

Beyond its reading-centric feature, the 60 XE packs a punch with its 50-megapixel rear camera and 32-megapixel selfie camera. The device also comes with a generous 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, making it a capable smartphone for everyday use. The 60 XE is priced competitively at $199 and will be available in Canada starting May 2025, with a US launch planned for later in the year.

In addition to the 60 XE, TCL showcased other innovative products at CES 2025, including the Nxtpaper 11 Plus tablet. This device features TCL's next-gen Nxtpaper 4.0 technology, which promises better clarity and sharpness. The Nxtpaper 11 Plus is designed with eye comfort in mind, offering an 11.5-inch 2.2K display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While pricing and availability details are yet to be announced, this tablet is expected to appeal to those seeking a comfortable and immersive reading experience.

TCL also unveiled a new projector concept, the Playcube, which boasts a modular design integrating aesthetics and functionality. Although details on pricing and availability are scarce, the Playcube's unique design is sure to generate interest in the projector market.

With the 60 XE and its accompanying products, TCL is making a strong push in the mobile and reading technology space. As consumers increasingly seek devices that can provide a comfortable and immersive reading experience, TCL's innovative approach is likely to resonate with the market. As the company continues to expand its offerings, it will be interesting to see how its products impact the industry and shape the future of mobile technology.
