Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Lineup: Preorders Start at $799.99, Arriving February 7th

Samsung has officially taken the wraps off its latest Galaxy S25 lineup, consisting of the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra. The new series is set to arrive on February 7th, with preorders starting at $799.99 for the base model. While the design remains largely similar to its predecessor, the S24 series, Samsung has made some notable upgrades to the hardware and software.

One of the key highlights of the Galaxy S25 series is the improved AI capabilities, courtesy of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip. The onboard AI assistant is now based on Google Gemini by default, allowing for natural language requests and smarter AI tools. Additionally, the phones feature a video editing tool that can erase unwanted distractions like crowds and wind, as well as daily AI-generated summaries to help users make better sense of their calendar and commute.

In terms of hardware, all three models come with 12GB of RAM by default, along with more processing power thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. The phones also support Qi2 wireless charging, with Samsung's magnetic Qi2 Ready cases capable of charging at up to 15W.

The Galaxy S25, the base model, starts at $799.99 and comes with 12GB of RAM and a choice of either 128GB or 256GB of storage. It features a 6.2-inch display, a 120Hz refresh rate, and the same 50-megapixel main shooter, 12-megapixel ultrawide, and 10-megapixel telephoto lens as its predecessor. The phone is available for preorder from Samsung, Amazon, and Best Buy in navy, light blue, mint, or silver, with exclusive colors available directly from Samsung.

The Galaxy S25 Plus, priced at $999.99, comes with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB or 512GB of storage. It features a larger 6.7-inch 120Hz display, a bigger battery than the S25, and an identical camera system. The phone is available for preorder from Samsung, Amazon, and Best Buy in navy, light blue, mint, and silver, with exclusive colors available directly from Samsung.

The top-of-the-line Galaxy S25 Ultra, priced at $1,299.99, comes with 12GB of RAM and a choice of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. It features a larger 6.9-inch 120Hz display, an S Pen stylus, and an upgraded camera array with two telephoto cameras and an improved 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor. The phone is available for preorder from Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung in blue, silver, gray, or black, with exclusive colors available directly from Samsung.

In terms of promotions, Amazon is offering $100 in credit when you preorder the Galaxy S25, $100 in credit when you preorder the Galaxy S25 Plus, and $200 in credit when you preorder the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung is also offering credits ranging from $50 to $150 depending on the model and storage configuration. Best Buy is throwing in a $50 gift card when you preorder the Galaxy S25, a $100 gift card when you preorder the Galaxy S25 Plus, and a $200 gift card when you preorder the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

With the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung is banking on its improved AI capabilities and camera features to differentiate itself in a crowded smartphone market. While the design may not have seen a significant overhaul, the incremental upgrades to the hardware and software may be enough to entice fans of the series to upgrade. As we continue to test the phones, we'll provide a more in-depth analysis of their performance and features.
