Snapchat Unlocks New iPhone Features, Introduces Footsteps and Spooky Stickers

In a move to further integrate its app with Apple's iPhone, Snapchat has announced a slew of new features that will change the way users interact with the platform. The most notable update allows iPhone users with iOS 18 and later to replace their native camera lock screen shortcut with the Snapchat camera, making it easier to capture life's moments as they happen.

This integration is a significant step forward for Snapchat, which claims that over 55,000 Snaps are created every second on average. By making it easier for users to access the app's camera, Snapchat is poised to increase user engagement and drive more content creation.

In addition to the new camera shortcut, Snapchat also announced that users can customize the iPhone 16's Camera Control button to open the app and quickly capture moments. This builds on the company's previous use of new iPhone features, including customizable lock screen and home screen widgets with iOS 16.

But that's not all - Snapchat has also officially launched its new Footsteps feature, which uses Snap Map to track users' travels and show them how much of the world they've explored. This feature was previously only available to Snapchat+ subscribers, but is now open to all users. To top it off, the company is introducing more stickers and Halloween-themed AI lenses to get users in the spooky spirit.
