Reddit Experiences Widespread Outages, Users Report Errors and Slow Load Times

Reddit, the popular social news and discussion website, is experiencing widespread outages, with users reporting error pages and slow load times. This is the second time in two days that the platform has faced issues, following apparent outages yesterday.

According to Reddit's status page, the company is aware of the issue and is currently investigating. A message on the status page at 7:58 PM ET stated, "We're experiencing an elevated level of errors and are currently looking into the issue." However, the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Downdetector, a website that tracks outages and downtime, shows a significant spike in outage reports, topping out at around 80,000 reports. The spike started to increase shortly after 7:30 PM ET, indicating a widespread issue.

Users have reported varying experiences, with some unable to load the site at all, while others have experienced slow load times. In some cases, users were able to load the site in incognito mode or on mobile devices, but not when logged in.

This is not the first time Reddit has faced outages. Yesterday, the platform reportedly dealt with "international outages," according to global internet monitor NetBlocks. It is unclear whether the two incidents are related.

The outages have sparked concern among Reddit users, who rely on the platform for news, discussion, and community engagement. The issues have also raised questions about the platform's infrastructure and ability to handle high traffic.

As Reddit continues to investigate the issue, users are advised to check the status page for updates. The company has not provided a timeline for when the issues are expected to be resolved.

The outages come at a time when Reddit is facing increasing competition from other social media platforms and online communities. The platform's reliability and uptime are critical to maintaining user trust and engagement.

Reddit's outages highlight the importance of robust infrastructure and reliable uptime for online services. As the platform works to resolve the issues, users will be watching closely to see how quickly and effectively the problems are addressed.
