Motorola Unveils Edge 60 Fusion with Unique Canvas Finish

Motorola has officially launched its first phone in the Edge 60 series, the Edge 60 Fusion, which boasts a unique canvas finish and impressive specifications at an affordable price point. The device is now available in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, with a UK price tag of £299.99 (approximately $390).

The Edge 60 Fusion's canvas-effect finish is undoubtedly one of its main attractions, but it's only available on the "amazonite" (teal) version of the phone. The blue and pink variants, on the other hand, feature a faux leather finish instead. Regardless of the color, every version of the phone comes with IP68 and 69 ratings, ensuring protection against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure sprays.

In terms of specifications, the Edge 60 Fusion is a mid-range device that packs a punch. The UK model features a slim 6.67-inch OLED screen, a large 5,200mAh battery, and up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. However, the phone's performance may be limited by the relatively basic MediaTek Dimensity chipset used, which varies depending on the market. The camera setup consists of a 50-megapixel main lens, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and two additional sensors – a flash and a flicker sensor.

It's worth noting that the Edge 60 Fusion's specifications vary slightly depending on the region. Models available in other markets feature an even larger 5,500mAh battery, but at the cost of a slightly thicker design. Despite these variations, the phone's overall design and features make it an attractive option for those seeking a mid-range device with a unique twist.

The Edge 60 Fusion is expected to be the first in a series of Edge 60 phones, following in the footsteps of last year's Edge 50 line, which consisted of five models. Unfortunately, none of these devices launched in the US, and it's unlikely that this year's phones will make it to American shores either. Instead, US buyers will have to settle for the $299.99 Moto G Power, which lacks the Fusion's OLED display and canvas feel but offers wireless charging.

Motorola is also expected to announce its updated Razr flip phones soon, with rumors suggesting a wooden finish – a nod to the 2014 Moto X's wood-backed design. While the Edge 60 Fusion may not be a flagship device, its unique features and affordable price make it an interesting addition to the mid-range smartphone market.

As the smartphone market continues to evolve, manufacturers are under increasing pressure to differentiate their products and offer unique selling points. The Edge 60 Fusion's canvas finish is a bold move in this direction, and it will be interesting to see how consumers respond to this innovative design choice. With its impressive specs and affordable price, the Edge 60 Fusion is certainly worth considering for those in the market for a new mid-range smartphone.
