Kia's 2025 EV6 Gets a Facelift and a Price Hike

Kia has announced a facelifted version of its popular EV6 electric vehicle for the 2025 model year, and with it comes a price increase across the board. The starting price of the base "Light" rear-wheel drive model will now be $42,900, a $300 increase from the 2024 model. However, the higher-end models will see more significant price hikes, with the GT model jumping from $61,600 to $63,800, a $2,200 increase.

The GT-Line AWD model will also see a price increase of $1,300, bringing its starting price to $54,900. Additionally, all models will come with a $1,475 destination fee, an $80 increase from the previous year. It's worth noting that these price increases do not necessarily correlate with the recent policy changes implemented by the Trump administration, as Kia has not explicitly stated that the hikes are a response to the tariffs.

The 2025 EV6 will feature a redesigned front grille, dubbed the "Star Map" design, which includes new daytime running light lines shaped like a scribbly triangle. The interior will also receive updates, including a new steering wheel and updated infotainment software. The new EV6 will also boast larger battery packs, with the standard model increasing from 58 kWh to 63 kWh, and the long-range model jumping from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh.

Kia claims that the larger battery pack will provide a range of 319 miles on a single charge for the rear-wheel drive models, although this is not an official EPA estimate. For comparison, the 2024 EV6 RWD Light Long Range has an EPA estimated range of 310 miles per charge. The new EV6 models, excluding the GT version, will be assembled in the US at Kia's plant in West Point, Georgia, alongside the EV9.

The price hike may be a concern for some potential buyers, but the updates to the EV6's design and technology may be enough to justify the increased cost. The EV6 has been a popular model for Kia, and the facelifted version is likely to continue that trend. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, manufacturers like Kia are working to stay competitive and meet the evolving demands of consumers.

The 2025 EV6's price increase may also be seen as a response to the growing competition in the electric vehicle market. With more models entering the market, manufacturers are looking for ways to differentiate their products and justify higher price points. Kia's focus on design and technology updates may be a key strategy in this effort.

As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how manufacturers like Kia adapt to changing consumer demands and market trends. The 2025 EV6's facelift and price hike may be just the beginning of a larger shift in the industry.
