Mechanical keyboard specialist Keychron has announced the expansion of its Hall effect switch lineup with the launch of two new keyboards, the Keychron Q6 HE and Lemokey P1 HE QMK, at CES 2025. These upgraded models allow users to adjust the exact sensitivity of their keys while gaming or typing, providing a more personalized and responsive typing experience.
The Keychron Q6 HE and Lemokey P1 HE QMK keyboards feature Hall effect switches, which utilize magnetic induction sensing on the PCB to detect how far down a key has been pushed. This technology enables users to set their preferred actuation point or assign different functions based on the pressure applied. Gamers, in particular, will appreciate the faster press response and customizable key sensitivity offered by these switches.
The Lemokey P1 HE QMK is a 75 percent layout keyboard that boasts 2.4GHz Bluetooth connectivity, a 1,000Hz polling rate, and compatibility with Gateron Double-Rail magnetic switches. It can be used in both wired and wireless modes and comes in black or white color options, featuring PBT double-shot keycaps. The Keychron Q6 HE, on the other hand, is a full-sized mechanical keyboard with similar features and switch restrictions.
This development marks Keychron's continued investment in Hall effect switch technology, following the release of its first Hall effect keyboard last year. The company is not alone in adopting this feature, as rival keyboard manufacturers like Corsair and SteelSeries have also incorporated Hall effect switches into their products. The trend is largely attributed to Wooting, which popularized the use of Hall effect switches in keyboards.
Interestingly, other brands like Epomaker and Ducky are exploring alternative induction-based switches that provide similar analog features while consuming less power. This shift in the keyboard market highlights the growing demand for customizable and responsive typing experiences, particularly among gamers and enthusiasts.
In addition to the Q6 and Lemokey P1 HE QMK, Keychron has announced plans to release three more keyboards with Hall effect switches later this year, including the K4, K8, and Lomokey L5 models. This expanded lineup is expected to further solidify Keychron's position as a leading provider of high-performance mechanical keyboards.
The introduction of Hall effect switches to more Keychron keyboards is a significant development in the world of mechanical keyboards. As the technology continues to evolve and gain widespread adoption, users can expect even more innovative features and customization options to emerge in the future.
