JetBrains Unifies AI Tools Under Single Subscription, Offers Free Tier with IDE Licenses

JetBrains, a leading provider of integrated development environments (IDEs), has announced a significant update to its AI-powered coding tools. The company is now offering its AI Assistant and coding agent, Junie, under a single subscription, with a free tier available to all IDE license holders. This move aims to simplify access to AI-driven development tools and provide a consistent experience across IDEs.

According to JetBrains CEO Kyrill Skrygan, the new subscription model ensures that developers can easily access AI tools without having to navigate multiple licenses or subscriptions. The AI Free tier, which comes bundled with all IDE licenses, offers unlimited code completion and access to local AI models. Additionally, users can utilize cloud-based AI assistance and the Junie coding agent on a credit-based system.

For developers with more demanding workflows, JetBrains is offering AI Pro and AI Ultimate tiers, which provide increased usage quotes. The All Products Pack and dotUltimate subscriptions now come with AI Pro included, providing users with a more comprehensive set of AI-powered tools. Notably, regardless of the tier chosen, users retain full control over their data, as JetBrains AI features are built with a focus on privacy, security, and transparency.

Junie, which was unveiled in January, is now publicly available and allows developers to redefine code by providing a collaborator within the IDE. The latest release of Junie has been improved to perform more complex tasks and offer finer control for a human-in-the-loop approach. The tool can now serve as a full-fledged pair programmer, answering questions, proposing plans, and following development guidelines. Junie is currently compatible with IntelliJ Idea Ultimate, PyCharm, WebStorm, and GoLand, with plans to add support for PhpStorm, RustRover, and RubyMine in the future.

In addition to the new subscription model and Junie's public release, JetBrains has also launched an updated version of its AI Assistant. The latest update aims to accelerate coding workflows and reduce repetitive tasks. The tool is now more intuitive and powerful, with expanded model options, including support for cloud models such as Claude 3.7 Sonnet, Google Gemini 2.5 Pro, and OpenAI models. Code completion has also been improved, with greater context awareness offering more accurate suggestions tailored to a project.

JetBrains' AI technology is designed to enhance productivity by seamlessly integrating into a development workflow, automating tedious tasks while developers maintain full control. With the new subscription model and updated AI tools, the company is poised to further simplify the development process and empower developers to focus on more complex and creative tasks.
