Circular, a pioneering smart ring maker, has unveiled its next-generation Ring 2 at CES 2025 Unveiled in Las Vegas, featuring electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality and atrial fibrillation (AFib) detection. The wearable device is slated to go on sale in February or March for $380, marking a significant milestone in the company's mission to empower users to take control of their wellness.
The Ring 2's ECG capability and FDA-cleared AFib detection enable users to monitor their heart health with unprecedented ease. The wearable captures a single-lead ECG using an advanced photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, which shines light onto the skin to measure changes in blood flow. This innovative technology allows users to track their heart health and detect potential irregularities, such as AFib, from the convenience of their finger.
In addition to its advanced health features, the Ring 2 boasts several upgrades compared to its predecessor. Circular has improved the device's battery life, promising an impressive eight days of use on a single charge. The company has also enhanced the ring's sensors to track key health metrics, including sleep analysis, providing users with a more comprehensive understanding of their overall well-being.
The redesigned companion app offers a more intuitive user experience, making it easier for users to access and interpret their health data. The ring itself will be available in four stylish finishes: gold, silver, black, and rose gold, catering to diverse tastes and preferences.
Circular's announcement comes three years after the company unveiled its first smart ring, which aimed to compete with established players like Oura and Ultrahuman. With the Ring 2, Circular has reaffirmed its commitment to pushing the boundaries of wearable technology and redefining what a smart ring can be.
"With the Circular Ring 2, we've reimagined what a smart ring can be—combining advanced health technology with timeless design and unmatched durability," said Circular CEO Amaury Kosman in a press release. "This isn't just a wearable; it's a statement piece that empowers our users to take control of their wellness without compromising on style."
In a bid to enhance the user experience, Circular is also launching a Digital Ring Sizing feature, accessible on smartphones, allowing customers to ensure a perfect fit before placing an order. The Ring 2 will be available in multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, further expanding Circular's global reach.
The launch of the Ring 2 marks a significant development in the wearables market, as consumers increasingly seek devices that can provide actionable insights into their health and wellness. With its advanced features and sleek design, the Ring 2 is poised to make a significant impact in the industry, solidifying Circular's position as a pioneer in the smart ring space.
