Ashton Kutcher, co-founder of Sound Ventures, made a bold prediction at TechCrunch Disrupt 2024: every company will become an AI company. The actor and investor believes that foundational AI models will be the foundation of everything to come, and it's not a matter of if, but when, companies will adopt AI.
Kutcher emphasized that AI will transform all industries, making every company an AI company in some way, shape, or form. However, he doesn't think there will be a single winner in the space, as different companies will converge and differentiate in their own ways.
The investor, who has been betting big on AI through Sound Ventures' $265 million AI fund, is excited about the potential of the technology. He drew parallels between AI and previous innovations like the personal computer, car, and industrial revolution, which were initially met with fear but ultimately brought about significant progress.
Kutcher also shared advice for founders, urging them to focus on the people, competencies, and market thesis behind their startups rather than perfecting their pitch decks. With Sound Ventures' investments in companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Hugging Face, Kutcher's words carry significant weight in the tech and startup community.
