Verizon has revamped its family-tracking app, introducing a slew of new features designed to enhance user safety and convenience. The updated Verizon Family app now includes a Safe Walk SOS feature, allowing users to share their real-time location with emergency contacts and send notifications when they arrive safely. Additionally, users can access a silent SOS button that alerts contacts in emergency situations.
The app also boasts a range of parental control features, including the ability to track location, monitor call and text activity, and set limits on screen time. While some of these features are already available on iPhones and Android devices, Verizon's app offers a more comprehensive suite of tools.
The Verizon Family app is available at no additional cost with a standard postpaid monthly account, although users can upgrade to a premium version for $14.99 per month, which includes additional features such as multiple location alerts and roadside assistance.
This update marks a significant shift in Verizon's approach to family tracking, building on its existing Smart Family service launched in 2019. The revamped app is poised to compete with built-in features on iPhones and Android devices, offering a more robust set of tools for families and caregivers.
