Ultrahuman Unveils Luxury Smart Ring Priced at $1,900 to $2,200

CES 2025 has kicked off, and one of the most eye-catching announcements so far is Ultrahuman's Rare smart ring collection, which comes with a staggering price tag of $1,900 to $2,200. The luxury smart ring is designed to be a high-end, artisan-crafted wearable that combines advanced technology with premium materials.

The Rare collection features three colors: desert rose, dune, and desert snow, which are essentially rose gold, gold, and silver. The desert rose and dune rings are made of 18-karat gold sourced from the London Bullion Market Association, while the desert snow ring is crafted from pt950 platinum. According to Ultrahuman, the collection "captures the essence of nature's most captivating phenomena" and embodies the harmonious blend of beauty and resilience found in arid landscapes.

From a technical standpoint, the Rare smart ring is identical to the Ultrahuman Ring Air, which is a well-regarded smart ring that costs a relatively affordable $350. The significant price difference is attributed to the artisanal craftsmanship, complex engineering, and a lifetime membership to UltrahumanX, the company's extended warranty subscription. This membership also grants access to all of Ultrahuman's PowerPlugs, including features like period tracking, vitamin D tracking, and smart alarms, as well as any future PowerPlugs.

The question on everyone's mind is whether the Rare smart ring is worth its hefty price tag. Ultrahuman's FAQ suggests that the target buyer is someone who seeks exclusivity and purpose in their purchases, citing the use of Ultrahuman Ring Air for engagements and gifts. However, the comparison to Apple's Watch Edition, which was also positioned as a luxury product, raises concerns about the viability of this approach.

The Rare smart ring's launch will be limited to select premium retail locations in London and Paris, making it an exclusive offering for those willing to pay the premium. While the ring's design and materials are undoubtedly high-end, it remains to be seen whether the market will respond positively to such a pricey smart ring.

As the tech industry continues to evolve, the boundaries between fashion, luxury, and technology are becoming increasingly blurred. Ultrahuman's Rare smart ring is a bold experiment in this space, and its success or failure will likely have significant implications for the wearables market as a whole.

Stay tuned for our hands-on impressions of the Rare smart ring from the CES 2025 show floor, where we'll get to see and feel the ring up close and personal.
