TurinTech Launches Artemis, an 'Evolutionary AI' Platform to Optimize and Validate Enterprise Codebases

The recent surge in "vibe coding" – a hands-off approach to writing code using Generative AI (GenAI) models – has sparked concerns over the efficiency and security of the generated code. Amidst this backdrop, UK-startup TurinTech has launched its Artemis product, an "evolutionary AI" platform designed to optimize and validate enterprise codebases.

TurinTech's Artemis platform is distinct from other GenAI tools, such as Cursor Composer, which rely solely on Large Language Models (LLMs) for basic code generation and optimization. Instead, Artemis aims to refine, validate, and evolve code to improve performance, security, and scalability. This approach addresses the concerns surrounding "vibe coding," which may lead to insecure code and rising technical debt.

According to Dr. Leslie Kanthan, CEO and co-founder of TurinTech, "As you generate a lot of code, you're generating a lot of inefficiencies. We use Artemis to find all the inefficiencies in the code that's been generated, make it faster, and use fewer resources." Kanthan's 2018 research paper on Darwinian approach to data structure selection forms the foundation of the Artemis product.

In contrast to tools like GitHub Copilot, which predicts code but doesn't check for corrections, Artemis takes a more comprehensive approach. It reviews code for corrections, ensuring that the generated code is not only efficient but also secure and scalable. This approach has already garnered interest from large blue-chip players and banks, which have joined TurinTech's early adopter program ahead of the platform's full release later this year.

TurinTech's latest funding round, which included a previously unannounced $15 million Series A led by Oxford Capital, with Circle Rock and IQ Capital participating, brings the total funding to $20 million. This investment will likely support the company's efforts to further develop and promote Artemis.

The launch of Artemis comes at a time when AI-generated code is transforming software development. According to Gartner, by 2028, 75% of enterprise software engineers will use AI code assistants, up from less than 10% in early 2023. A Stack Overflow survey found that 63% of developers are already incorporating AI into their workflow. As the adoption of AI-generated code continues to grow, TurinTech's Artemis platform is well-positioned to address the concerns surrounding "vibe coding" and provide a more efficient, secure, and scalable solution for enterprise codebases.

With its innovative approach to code optimization and validation, TurinTech's Artemis has the potential to revolutionize the way code is generated, refined, and evolved. As the tech industry continues to grapple with the implications of "vibe coding," TurinTech's solution may emerge as a beacon of hope for those seeking a more efficient, secure, and scalable approach to software development.
