Tesla's Cybertruck is facing its sixth recall since its launch a year ago, with the latest issue affecting 2,431 units built between November 6, 2023, and July 30, 2024. According to a report from Tesla, the recalled vehicles were equipped with a faulty drive inverter, which can cause the driver to lose the ability to apply torque to the vehicle using the accelerator pedal.
This problem can result in a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a collision. Tesla has announced that it will replace the recalled drive inverter free of charge, unlike a previous recall in October that required only an over-the-air update. The October recall affected 27,185 Cybertrucks and was due to a delay in the rearview camera image that could impair driver visibility.
This is not the first time the Cybertruck has faced issues with its components. Earlier this year, Tesla recalled the vehicle due to a sticky accelerator pedal in April and to fix potentially loose trim pieces and defective windshield wipers in June. The string of recalls raises concerns about the electric vehicle maker's quality control and the reliability of its flagship product.
