TCL Unveils QM6K Mini LED TV with Impressive Specs at Competitive Prices

TCL has made a bold statement at CES 2025 with the unveiling of its QM6K Mini LED TV, a flagship model that promises to deliver exceptional picture quality at a competitive price. The company's first Mini LED TV of the year, the QM6K, is part of the new Precise Dimming series and boasts an impressive array of features that set it apart from its rivals.

The QM6K TV boasts up to 500 local dimming zones, a 144Hz panel that can be pushed to 288Hz VRR in Game Accelerator mode, and a new Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode. Additionally, the TV comes with hands-free voice controls for the Google TV software and a unique "sleep sounds" mode, which could prove useful for those who plan to install the TV in a bedroom.

One of the key highlights of the QM6K TV is TCL's enhanced backlight technology, which includes a Bi-directional 23-bit Backlight Controller. This allows for granular control of over 65,000 levels of brightness for each LED, resulting in a more precise and nuanced picture. The TV also features a new Dynamic Light Algorithm, which optimizes incoming video signals to render SDR signals at near HDR levels, ensuring consistently great picture quality regardless of the content metadata.

TCL has also made significant strides in reducing blooming, a common issue with Mini LED TVs where a halo effect surrounds bright objects on a dark background. The company's efforts to eradicate blooming are a major selling point, especially when compared to OLED TVs, which offer pixel-level control.

In addition to its impressive picture quality, the QM6K TV also prioritizes sound performance, featuring an Onkyo-branded 2.1 system built-in. This "affordable premium" TV is available in a range of sizes, from 50 inches to a massive 98-inch model, with preorders beginning today.

The pricing for the QM6K TV is as follows: 98-inch for $3,499.99, 85-inch for $1,999.99, 75-inch for $1,299.99, 65-inch for $999.99, 55-inch for $799.99, and 50-inch for $749.99. While TCL has not yet revealed its entire 2025 TV lineup, the QM6K is an impressive start, and its competitive pricing is likely to give Hisense a run for its money in the Mini LED category.

It's worth noting that TCL's staggered release cadence means that the company is not yet ready to showcase its very best 2025 TVs. A follow-up to the excellent QM8 will have to wait for a few more months, leaving fans of the brand eagerly anticipating what's to come.

In the meantime, the QM6K Mini LED TV is an attractive option for those seeking a high-quality TV at an affordable price. With its impressive specs, improved picture quality, and competitive pricing, TCL has set the bar high for its rivals in the Mini LED category.
