Samsung's Glasses-Free 3D Odyssey Monitor Now Available for Preorder, Priced at $2,000

Samsung's highly anticipated 3D Odyssey monitor is finally available for preorder, with a price tag of $1,999.99, according to a since-removed Best Buy product page. The 27-inch monitor boasts a 4K display that utilizes eye-tracking technology to deliver a natural-looking high-definition 3D image, providing a unique gaming experience without the need for glasses.

The Odyssey 3D G90XF comes with a range of impressive features, including a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms gray-to-gray response time, and support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync. To take full advantage of the monitor's 3D capabilities, users will need to install Samsung's Reality Hub app and have an Nvidia graphics card, with an RTX 3080 or higher recommended.

One of the monitor's most notable features is its ability to convert nearly all content into 3D using the panel's lenticular lens. However, this feature comes with some significant caveats. It only works with PCs equipped with an Nvidia graphics card, and it's not compatible with DRM-protected content or HDR mode. Additionally, some video players may not support the 3D conversion tool.

In addition to the Odyssey 3D, Samsung is launching two other monitors: the 27-inch and 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF) and the 49-inch Odyssey G9 (G91F). The Odyssey OLED G8 features a 4K OLED display with a 166 pixels-per-inch (PPI) density, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a built-in system to protect against burn-in. The 27-inch model is priced at $1,299.99, according to a MicroCenter listing. The Odyssey G9, on the other hand, comes with a dual QHD display, a 1ms response time, and a 144Hz refresh rate, with a reported price of $999.99.

Samsung is also launching a ViewFinity S8 (S80UD) monitor with a larger 37-inch 4K display, priced at $599.99. Despite these early retail listings, the exact pricing of these monitors remains unclear, with a Samsung spokesperson stating that there are "no details to share on pricing just yet."

Customers can reserve the Odyssey 3D, Odyssey OLED G8, and Odyssey G9 from now until April 8th and receive a $50 credit toward their preorder. With these new monitors, Samsung is poised to make a significant impact in the display technology market, offering innovative features and high-quality displays that are sure to appeal to gamers and tech enthusiasts alike.

As the technology industry continues to evolve, Samsung's latest offerings demonstrate the company's commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation and providing consumers with cutting-edge products that enhance their gaming and entertainment experiences. With the Odyssey 3D and other monitors, Samsung is set to revolutionize the way we interact with displays and experience immersive content.
