Samsung has officially launched its latest mid-range Android tablets, the Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE Plus, with a surprising $50 price hike compared to their predecessors. The new tablets come in unique screen sizes, with the FE featuring a 10.9-inch display and the FE Plus boasting a 13.1-inch screen, which sits between the S10 Plus and S10 Ultra in terms of size.

This marks the first time that neither tablet has a direct equivalent in the standard Tab S10 series, offering customers more options in the mid-range tablet market. The FE is the smallest of Samsung's current tablet offerings, while the FE Plus fills a gap between the S10 Plus and S10 Ultra.

In terms of display, both tablets still use LCD panels, rather than OLED, and are limited to 90Hz refresh rates. Despite the larger size, the Plus model doesn't feature a bigger battery than its predecessor, but both tablets are slightly slimmer than before. The camera setup has been upgraded to a new 13-megapixel sensor, although the Plus model loses its ultrawide lens.

Under the hood, both tablets are powered by the Samsung Exynos 1580 chipset, an upgrade from the 1380 found in the Tab S9 FE models. They come with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and will ship with Android 15 out of the box, along with Samsung's usual suite of AI features. IP68 dust and water-resistance returns, as does support for the S Pen stylus, which is included in the box but lacks Bluetooth features.

The Tab S10 FE and S10 FE Plus will be available in the US from April 10th in gray, silver, or blue, with reservations open now. The regular model starts at $499.99, while the Plus model starts at $649.99, both representing a $50 increase over the previous generation. A 5G version of the smaller Tab S10 FE is also available for $100 extra, but only in gray.

The price hike may be a concern for some customers, especially considering the lack of significant upgrades in certain areas, such as the display and battery life. However, the new screen sizes and upgraded chipsets may still make the Tab S10 FE and FE Plus attractive options for those in the market for a mid-range Android tablet.

It's worth noting that Samsung's decision to strip Bluetooth features from the S Pen stylus, as seen in the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has been carried over to the FE tablets as well. While this may not be a major concern for most users, it's an interesting design choice that may impact the overall user experience.
