Samsung has officially unveiled its 2025 TV lineup, featuring a range of innovative technologies, including anti-glare screens, AI-powered features, and massive sizes. The company's 'glare-free display' technology, which debuted on last year's S95D OLED, is now expanding to several more models, including its flagship Mini LED sets.
The new S95F QD-OLED is capable of reaching an impressive 4,000 nits, making it one of the brightest TVs on the market. The glare-free coating has been improved to further reduce reflections from overhead lighting, floor lamps, and sunlight. Additionally, the S95F can hit a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, making it an attractive option for PC gamers.
However, not everyone is a fan of Samsung's glare-free screen technology. Some critics argue that it results in a worse overall picture than glossy coatings, and that the perfect blacks of OLED aren't as inky black in all lighting conditions. Despite this, Samsung remains committed to the technology, expanding it to its Mini LED "Neo QLED" TVs for the first time, including the flagship 4K QN90F and both of this year's 8K models.
The QN90F will be available in massive sizes, topping out at 115 inches, while the QN80F can be had at up to 100 inches. Samsung's "Supersize Picture Enhancer" will help keep 4K content looking crisp even on the giant QN90F. However, Dolby Vision will not be available on any of these TVs, a decision that Samsung seems to have made philosophically.
In addition to its anti-glare screens, Samsung is also highlighting its AI-powered features, now branded as Vision AI. These include AI Upscaling, Auto HDR Remastering, and Adaptive Sound Pro, as well as new features like Click to Search, which can identify actors on-screen, the location of a shot, or what clothes are featured in a scene with just one click of the new AI button on the SolarCell remote.
Another new AI feature is Samsung Food, which recognizes the food on your screen and provides recipes for bringing it to life. Live Translate is a more practical addition, allowing for instant translation of closed captions on live broadcasts in up to seven languages. Samsung is also using AI to provide more robust home security features, including the ability to detect unusual sounds and movements, and provide alerts and notifications on your phone or TV screen.
The company is also leveling up its voice assistant, Bixby, which can now better understand context and assist with multiple actions at once. Additionally, Samsung TV owners will be able to control their TVs with the Galaxy Watch on their wrist. Pricing for the 2025 TVs will be announced over the next few months, with shipments expected to begin this spring.
Overall, Samsung's 2025 TV lineup is shaping up to be an impressive one, with a focus on innovative technologies and massive sizes. While some may be divided on the company's anti-glare screen technology, there's no denying that Samsung is pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the TV space.
