Samsung has announced its 2025 monitor lineup, featuring a range of new models that prioritize OLED technology and gaming performance. The company's latest offerings include the Odyssey OLED G81SF, a 27-inch 4K monitor with a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz, and the Odyssey OLED G60SF, a 27-inch QHD monitor with an impressive 500Hz refresh rate.
The Odyssey OLED G81SF boasts a number of impressive features, including a glare-free display, rear-core lighting with 52 color options, and burn-in protection measures to ensure the screen remains pristine over time. The monitor is likely to utilize the latest OLED panel from Samsung Display. Meanwhile, the Odyssey OLED G60SF is designed to provide ultra-smooth gameplay, with Samsung claiming that its high refresh rate effectively eliminates lag and motion blur.
Samsung is also finally shipping the Odyssey 3D monitor, which was first teased at last year's CES. This innovative display allows users to experience 3D visuals without special glasses, thanks to a lenticular lens on the front panel. The Odyssey 3D features a 27-inch 4K size, a rapid 1ms gray-to-gray response time, and a 165Hz refresh rate. Notably, the larger 37-inch display mentioned last year has been scrapped.
In addition to its gaming-focused monitors, Samsung is also bringing OLED technology to its more mainstream Smart Monitor series. The new Smart Monitor M9 features a 4K resolution, a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz, and a range of AI-powered capabilities. These include AI Picture Optimizer, which analyzes input signals to determine the type of content being viewed and automatically adjusts display settings for the best visual experience. The monitor also features AI Upscaling Pro, which can make lower-res content look crisper at the M9's 4K resolution.
The Smart Monitor M9's OLED display allows for an "ultra-slim" design that takes up less desk space, according to Samsung. The company has also announced the 37-inch ViewFinity S8, a non-OLED model with a 16:9 aspect ratio, built-in KVM switch, 90W USB-C passthrough charging, and 99% sRGB color gamut coverage. Peak brightness for this 4K display tops out at 350 nits, making it suitable for everyday productivity tasks.
While pricing and release dates have not been announced, Samsung's new monitor lineup is set to make a significant impact on the gaming and productivity markets. With its focus on OLED technology and AI-powered features, the company is positioning itself as a leader in the display industry. The Verge will be attending CES 2025 in the coming days, providing first-hand impressions of Samsung's new monitors.
As the tech industry continues to evolve, Samsung's 2025 monitor lineup represents a significant step forward in terms of display technology and gaming performance. With its emphasis on OLED and AI capabilities, the company is poised to shape the future of the display market. As more information becomes available, it will be interesting to see how Samsung's new monitors are received by consumers and industry experts alike.
