The investment, led by General Atlantic and participated by prominent investors such as Fidelity Management & Research Company, Baillie Gifford, Nvidia, SoftBank, and others, brings the company's total funding to $536.5 million, according to Crunchbase.

The fresh capital will be utilized to drive AI research and hiring, as well as expand Runway's Runway Studios film and animation production arm. This significant investment underscores the growing interest in AI-powered media production and the potential for generative AI models to revolutionize the industry.

Runway's suite of AI media tools, including video- and image-generating models, has positioned the company as a key player in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
