Rivian Partners with iKamper to Launch Electric Truck-Friendly Tent, the Skycamp Mini

Rivian, the electric vehicle manufacturer, has collaborated with camping gear company iKamper to launch the Skycamp Mini, a pop-out tent specifically designed for the R1T electric truck. This new accessory is a significant addition to Rivian's outdoor lifestyle offerings, providing a convenient and range-friendly camping solution for electric truck owners.

The Skycamp Mini is based on iKamper's popular Skycamp 3.0 Mini model, but with a Rivian-branded twist. The tent stows away in a hardshell case that fits over Rivian's bed rack and pops out to the side of the truck with a ladder, allowing for easy access. This design ensures that the tent doesn't compromise the R1T's aerodynamics, which is crucial for maintaining electric range during long trips.

In contrast to Tesla's rear-extending official CyberTent for the Cybertruck, the Skycamp Mini doesn't occupy valuable truck bed space. This means owners can still utilize Rivian's fold-and-stow cooktop system, which adds two induction burners that can be used right on the tailgate. The Skycamp Mini's design prioritizes convenience, practicality, and range preservation.

The Rivian x iKamper Skycamp Mini features a yellow color scheme matching the automaker's brand and comes with locking crossbar brackets that work seamlessly with Rivian's Adventure Key set. Additionally, the package includes a "deluxe" self-inflating mattress, an upgrade from the standard Skycamp Mini's foam mattress. As a promotional offer, iKamper is including a "Disco Series" stove with purchases made before April 15th, while supplies last.

The Skycamp Mini is available for order directly from iKamper's website, priced at $4,595 plus $199 shipping to the contiguous US (and $800 for Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and some parts of Alaska). This represents a $350 premium over the standard Skycamp Mini model, or $50 more if the inflatable mattress is added manually.

This collaboration between Rivian and iKamper demonstrates the electric vehicle manufacturer's commitment to providing a comprehensive outdoor lifestyle experience for its customers. As the electric truck market continues to grow, innovative accessories like the Skycamp Mini will play a crucial role in enhancing the overall ownership experience.

In the broader context, the Skycamp Mini's focus on range preservation and convenience reflects the evolving needs of electric vehicle owners. As the industry shifts towards more sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation options, accessories like the Skycamp Mini will become increasingly important in supporting the lifestyle choices of eco-conscious consumers.
