Reolink, a leading surveillance technology company, has announced its latest innovation in the field of consumer-oriented surveillance cameras. The new Altas series of cameras boasts an impressive feature set, including the ability to record video continuously for up to seven days on a single battery charge, or almost two years when recording based on motion. This breakthrough is made possible by the cameras' large 20,000mAh battery paired with a new ultra-low power chipset.
The Altas series consists of three cameras capable of 24/7 continuous recording: the Altas Go PT with a 360-degree blindspot-free view and 4G connectivity, the bullet-style 2K Altas with Wi-Fi connectivity, and an updated version of the 4K Altas PT Ultra that launched in September, now with a more power-friendly chipset. Each camera is equipped with a mic and speaker for two-way audio, a 1/1.8-inch image sensor that can record color footage even at night, and a 10-second prerecording feature to ensure that users don't miss any important events.
One of the most significant advantages of the Altas series is its ability to record video locally to an SD card, eliminating the need for cloud storage and subscription fees. Users can store video footage on an SD card up to 512GB or send it to one of Reolink's hub solutions. The new Reolink Home Hub, available now for $99, offers a beginner-friendly solution for homeowners to manage video footage, create security routines, and receive detailed security reports. The hub supports up to eight of Reolink's Wi-Fi cameras with up to 1TB of locally encrypted storage for recordings and is compatible with Home Assistant, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.
Reolink's cameras can also be connected to the company's compact solar chargers, which come in 6W and 12W variants, to extend their runtime indefinitely. This feature makes the Altas series an ideal solution for outdoor or remote surveillance applications where power outlets may not be readily available.
The implications of Reolink's innovation are far-reaching, offering users unparalleled flexibility and security in their surveillance needs. With the ability to record video continuously for extended periods without the need for a power outlet or internet connection, the Altas series is poised to revolutionize the consumer-oriented surveillance camera market.
The Altas cameras with 24/7 continuous recording are set to launch in Q3, although pricing details have not been disclosed. With its latest innovation, Reolink is cementing its position as a leader in the surveillance technology industry, and users can expect to see significant advancements in the field of consumer-oriented surveillance cameras in the years to come.
