Prince William Lands in South Africa for Earthshot Prize

Prince William has arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, for a four-day visit focused on his annual Earthshot Prize, which recognizes and rewards environmental innovators. The prize, launched in 2020, aims to support projects tackling climate change and other environmental challenges.

During his trip, Prince William will attend a global wildlife summit and meet with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The Earthshot Prize awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, where five winners will each receive £1 million to support their projects. This marks Prince William's first visit to South Africa since 2010.

The Earthshot Prize is inspired by former U.S. President John F. Kennedy's "moonshot" project, which led to the lunar landing in 1969. Prince William's initiative aims to provide a platform for innovators, encourage investors to support African solutions, and inspire young people across Africa engaged in climate issues. The visit is significant for the tech and startup community, as it highlights the importance of innovation in addressing environmental challenges.
