Poco, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, has officially launched its first "Ultra" phone, the F7 Ultra, which promises to deliver flagship performance at a midrange price. The device is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, typically found in high-end smartphones, and is available in the UK for £649 (around $835).
The F7 Ultra's impressive specs don't stop at the processor. It also features a triple rear camera setup, consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel 2.5x telephoto camera, and a 32-megapixel ultrawide camera. Additionally, the phone boasts a 32-megapixel selfie camera and supports 120W wired charging, as well as 50W wireless charging. The device also features an IP68 rating, ensuring protection from dust and water.
In terms of display, the F7 Ultra sports a 6.67-inch OLED screen with a 1440p resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone's battery life is also impressive, with a sizable 5,300mAh battery. The device is available in two color options: a vibrant yellow finish and a more subdued black model.
For those looking for a more affordable option, Poco has also released the F7 Pro, which starts at £499 (around $645). While it shares a similar design with the F7 Ultra, the Pro model features an older Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, slower 90W charging, and a downgraded camera setup. The F7 Pro does, however, boast a larger 6,000mAh battery.
The F7 Ultra's aggressive pricing and impressive specs are likely to appeal to consumers looking for a high-performance device without the hefty price tag. With Xiaomi's software experience and promise of four Android updates, the F7 Ultra is poised to be a strong contender in the midrange market.
The launch of the F7 Ultra marks a significant milestone for Poco, which has traditionally focused on budget-friendly handsets. The company's foray into the midrange segment is likely to shake up the market and provide consumers with more options in this price range.
As the smartphone market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how the F7 Ultra performs and how it compares to other devices in its class. With its impressive specs and affordable price point, the F7 Ultra is certainly a device worth keeping an eye on.
