The virtual twin technology can break down a home into over 60 different characteristics and attributes, enabling precise assessments of energy efficiency potential. To validate the models, Palmetto is leveraging data from homes that have already purchased or leased solar panels from the company, allowing for anonymized and real-time comparison of model performance and further training of the AI system.

In a move inspired by Bratsafolis' experience at Twilio, Palmetto has decided to open its virtual twin API to outside developers. This strategic decision aims to empower partners and developers to build tools that accelerate the electrification of US buildings. Developers will receive 500 free API calls per month, with additional calls priced at five cents each. For larger customers, Palmetto is open to negotiating special pricing arrangements.

As Bratsafolis noted, "You just don't necessarily know what the use cases could be. And with an API product, you get incredible insight into the demand and the market."
