Oukitel, a company known for creating chunky phones with extended battery life, has taken its approach to the next level with the introduction of the WP100 Titan smartphone. This behemoth of a device packs a massive 33,000mAh battery, which the company claims can provide up to 4,459 hours – or approximately six months – of standby time.
The WP100 Titan is currently available for pre-order through a Kickstarter campaign, with early backers able to secure the device for $599, discounted from its $899 retail price. Oukitel expects to start shipping the device as early as April 2025, with mass production set to begin in March. The company has already shipped review units, indicating its confidence in meeting the production timeline.
Under the hood, the WP100 Titan is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor, paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This configuration enables users to talk on the phone for up to 289 hours or watch 49 hours of video on its 6.8-inch, 120Hz display. The device also features a waterproof design with an IP68 rating, making it suitable for outdoor activities like camping or hiking.
One of the most notable features of the WP100 Titan is its 1,200-lumen LED camp light, which can be used for up to 150 hours. Additionally, the device includes a built-in projector, albeit with a limited 100-lumen output. While the projector's brightness may not be ideal for large-scale presentations, it can still be useful in dark environments. Oukitel claims that users can watch up to six full-length movies on a single charge, although the exact impact of projector usage on battery life remains unclear.
The WP100 Titan's camera system is equally impressive, featuring a 200-megapixel main camera, a 20-megapixel infrared night vision camera, and a two-megapixel macro camera on the back. The front of the device houses a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Out of the box, the WP100 Titan will run Android 14, with an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade to Android 15 promised by the company. However, it remains uncertain whether the device will receive an update to Android 16 when Google releases the next version of its mobile OS later this year.
The WP100 Titan's unique blend of features and capabilities makes it an intriguing option for those seeking a rugged, long-lasting smartphone with advanced functionality. While its bulky design may not appeal to everyone, Oukitel's latest offering is certainly a testament to the company's commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in a smartphone.
As the WP100 Titan prepares to enter the market, it will be interesting to see how consumers respond to its unique feature set and whether Oukitel's gamble on a chunky design will pay off. One thing is certain, however – the WP100 Titan is a smartphone like no other, and its impact on the industry will be closely watched in the coming months.
