Oppo Unveils Find X8 Ultra: A Thinner, Camera-Centric Flagship with Impressive Specs

Oppo has officially announced its latest flagship smartphone, the Find X8 Ultra, which promises to deliver top-notch camera performance in a surprisingly slim package. Despite its 6.82-inch display, the phone measures a relatively slender 8.78mm in thickness, making it a notable departure from the trend of increasingly bulky camera-centric devices.

The Find X8 Ultra's camera system is undoubtedly its main attraction, featuring four 50-megapixel rear lenses tuned by Hasselblad, including 3x and 6x periscopes with faster apertures. The phone also includes a dedicated haptic shutter button with touch controls for zooming, as well as a customizable shortcut button that replaces the popular alert slider. According to Oppo, the goal was to create a "relatively normal phone" that doesn't compromise on camera capabilities.

Despite its slim design, the Find X8 Ultra still manages to pack an enormous 6,100mAh battery, larger than that of any direct rival. The phone also supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, ensuring that users can quickly top up their device. Under the hood, the Find X8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The phone also boasts IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water.

The Find X8 Ultra is not the only new device in Oppo's lineup, as the company also launched the Find X8s and X8s Plus, which are refreshes of the Find X8 powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus. The X8s is a more compact phone with a 6.3-inch display, while the X8s Plus features a larger 6.59-inch screen and a bigger 6,000mAh battery. Unfortunately, Oppo has no plans to launch any of the new Find X8 phones outside of China.

The decision to limit the Find X8 Ultra's availability to China may come as a disappointment to international fans of the brand, particularly given the phone's impressive specs and unique design. However, Oppo's focus on the Chinese market may allow the company to better compete with local rivals Xiaomi and Vivo, which have also been pushing the boundaries of camera technology in their recent flagships.

As the smartphone market continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Oppo's strategy plays out. With the Find X8 Ultra, the company has demonstrated its ability to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible in a flagship device. Whether or not this approach will pay off remains to be seen, but one thing is certain – the Find X8 Ultra is a phone that will be closely watched by tech enthusiasts around the world.
