Nvidia's highly anticipated GTC 2025 conference is set to begin on Monday, running through Friday in San Jose, and TechCrunch will be on the ground to bring you all the latest news and announcements. CEO Jensen Huang will take the stage at the SAP Center on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Pacific to deliver a keynote address focused on AI and accelerating computing technologies.
The conference promises to be a packed event, with over 1,000 sessions featuring 2,000 speakers and nearly 400 exhibitors. Nvidia has teased several major reveals, including advancements in robotics, sovereign AI, AI agents, and automotive technologies. Additionally, the company will host a "quantum day" to explore the path towards practical quantum applications, featuring executives from prominent companies in the field.
One of the most highly anticipated announcements is expected to be the unveiling of a new, upgraded iteration of Nvidia's Blackwell chip lineup, codenamed Blackwell Ultra. During the company's recent earnings call, Huang confirmed that the Blackwell B300 series is slated for release in the second half of this year, boasting higher computing performance and increased memory capacity (288GB) to support memory-hungry AI models.
Rubin, Nvidia's next-gen GPU series, is also expected to make an appearance at GTC. Due out in 2026, Rubin promises to deliver a significant leap in computing power, with Huang describing it as a "big, big, huge step up" during the earnings call. The CEO also hinted that he would discuss post-Rubin products at GTC, potentially including Rubin Ultra GPUs or the GPU architecture that will succeed the Rubin family.
Nvidia is looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, including reports of severe overheating issues with early Blackwell cards and U.S. export controls that have depressed the company's stock price. However, Huang remains optimistic, arguing that the rise of Chinese AI lab DeepSeek will ultimately benefit Nvidia by accelerating the adoption of AI technology.
Despite these challenges, Nvidia reported a record-breaking quarter in February, with $39.3 billion in revenue and a projected $43 billion in revenue for the subsequent quarter. The company still dominates the GPU market, holding an estimated 82% share. Nevertheless, Huang is reportedly eager to see AI applications that have a meaningful impact beyond the tech industry.
As the conference gets underway, all eyes will be on Nvidia to see how the company plans to address these challenges and capitalize on the growing demand for AI and computing power. With a packed agenda and a slew of expected announcements, GTC 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal event for the tech industry.
