Movano, a smart ring maker, has introduced EvieAI, a novel chatbot designed to provide accurate health insights, at CES 2025. In a crowded health tech landscape where AI is increasingly prevalent, EvieAI stands out by being trained exclusively on over 100,000 peer-reviewed medical journals.
This approach is a deliberate response to the reputation of AI for spreading misinformation, particularly in the health and wellness space. By constraining EvieAI to medical journals written by professionals, Movano CEO John Mastrototaro aims to ensure the chatbot's responses are reliable and trustworthy. The company claims EvieAI has achieved 99% accuracy, although this has not been independently verified.
EvieAI's training data is sourced from accredited medical institutions, including FDA-approved journals, practices, and procedures. The chatbot cross-references its information with organizations like the Mayo Clinic, Harvard, and UCLA to ensure consistency and accuracy. This bounded language model (LLM) will only respond to queries within its training data, refusing to provide answers it's unsure about.
Mastrototaro emphasized that EvieAI is not designed to provide diagnostic or medical advice, instead serving as a conversational resource for health and wellness questions, with a focus on women's health. The chatbot will be updated monthly with new approved documents, ensuring it stays current with the latest medical research.
In terms of privacy, Movano has implemented industry-standard encryption for storage and transmission, and conversation data will be periodically deleted. The company has also committed to not using chat data for targeted advertising. This commitment to privacy and accuracy is consistent with Movano's previous efforts, including gaining FDA clearance for its EvieMED ring and relaunching the consumer version of its Evie Ring to address customer feedback.
EvieAI will initially be available as a beta version to existing Evie Ring users within the Evie app, starting on January 8th, at no extra cost. In the future, Movano plans to incorporate individual health data collected by its smart rings, further enhancing the chatbot's capabilities.
As the health tech industry continues to evolve, Movano's EvieAI represents a significant step forward in providing accurate and reliable health information. By leveraging the power of AI and medical expertise, EvieAI has the potential to empower individuals to take a more informed approach to their health and wellness.
