After a decade of defining the premium mobile gaming experience, Monument Valley 3 has finally arrived on Netflix, marking a significant evolution in the beloved puzzle franchise. The latest installment, developed by Ustwo Games, brings a fresh perspective, new gameplay mechanics, and a live-service model that promises to keep players engaged for a long time.
According to game director Jennifer Estaris, the team at Ustwo Games aimed to make a "major change" with Monument Valley 3, pushing the envelope further than its predecessors. In a significant departure from traditional game development, Ustwo Games is adopting a live-service model for Monument Valley 3. Additional content, including seasonal puzzles and storied chapters, will be released for at least a year after launch, providing a constant stream of new challenges and experiences for players. This approach, likened to "jazz" by Estaris, promises to keep the game fresh and exciting, while also fitting neatly into Netflix's subscription model.
