Meta is rolling out a significant update to its Quest virtual reality (VR) platform, dubbed v71, which introduces a redesigned Horizon OS, a new calendar app, and an expanded Travel Mode feature. The update is set to start rolling out next week, bringing a fresh look and feel to the VR experience.

The redesign of Horizon OS aims to improve clarity and reading contrast, with tweaks to the dark and light themes, panel behavior, and UI elements. The Settings menu has also received a makeover, complete with a new look and layout, as well as improved search functionality. The new calendar app, which integrates with Google and Outlook calendars, allows users to browse through different days while in VR. The app will also display Meta Horizon Worlds events and meetings scheduled in Meta Horizon Workrooms. Meanwhile, the expanded Travel Mode feature, initially introduced in May, now supports train travel, enabling users to enjoy VR content on the go. However, it's worth noting that Travel Mode is not compatible with Quest Pro or Touch Plus controllers, making it better suited for watching movies or TV shows rather than gaming.
