Jeep's next electric vehicle, the Recon EV, is finally ready to hit the market after a brief teaser during a Super Bowl ad featuring Harrison Ford. The company has launched a new landing website for the vehicle, confirming that the first units will arrive in late 2025.
The Recon EV was first announced in 2022 as part of parent company Stellantis' plan to launch four new electric Jeeps worldwide by 2025. Although it was initially expected to launch soon after the 2024 all-electric Wagoneer S, the Wagoneer S didn't ship until January 2025. According to Road & Track, the Recon is now going into production this month.
The Super Bowl ad gave a glimpse into the Recon's off-road capabilities, showcasing the vehicle with its doors removed, a feature that will likely appeal to Wrangler owners. Electrek previously reported spy shots of the vehicle in light camouflage with the doors installed in December. Jeep's website displays a "pre-production" model, but pricing and preorder information are not yet available.
The Recon EV's launch is a significant step for Jeep as it continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup. With the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles, Jeep is poised to capitalize on the trend with its Wrangler-like Recon EV. Although the company has not released detailed specifications, the vehicle's appearance in the Super Bowl ad suggests it will offer a unique blend of off-road capability and electric power.
The Recon EV's launch later this year will be closely watched by industry observers, who will be eager to see how the vehicle performs in the market. As Jeep continues to invest in its electric vehicle lineup, the Recon EV represents an important milestone in the company's transition to more sustainable transportation options.
In the broader context, the Recon EV's launch is part of a larger trend towards electrification in the automotive industry. With governments around the world implementing stricter emissions regulations, companies like Jeep are being forced to adapt and innovate. The Recon EV's arrival later this year will be a significant step in this direction, and its success could have far-reaching implications for the industry as a whole.
