Insta360 Unveils Flow 2 Pro Gimbal with Advanced AI Tracking for Seamless Group Framing

Insta360 has announced the release of its latest Flow 2 Pro stabilized smartphone gimbal, boasting advanced AI tracking capabilities that can keep multiple people perfectly framed, even when they're moving. This upgraded feature is made possible by the company's new Deep Track 4.0 technology, which provides more flexibility in framing tracked subjects.

The Flow 2 Pro is available starting today for $159.99, a $10 increase from the original Flow Pro, but identical in price to Insta360's first Flow gimbal released in early 2023. The device comes in two color options: stone gray and summit white.

One of the key features of the Flow 2 Pro is its ability to track people using Apple's DockKit framework, allowing seamless integration with the iPhone's native Camera app, as well as other third-party camera apps like Blackmagic Camera. A glowing ring light on the gimbal indicates when tracking is active and working.

However, the Flow 2 Pro's capabilities are truly unleashed when used with Insta360's own camera app, available for both iOS and Android. The app's Deep Track 4.0 technology enables tracking of multiple subjects, ensuring that entire groups remain centered in frame, even when in motion. Additionally, the app supports tracking non-human subjects like animals and objects, as well as tracking while zoomed in up to 15x.

Insta360 has also introduced a new feature called Pro Framing Grid, which allows users to select one of nine different grid squares to change where a tracked subject appears in frame. This feature provides more creative flexibility with framing, moving beyond simply centering the target.

In terms of design, the Flow 2 Pro is slightly lighter than its predecessor, weighing in at 357 grams compared to 366 grams. The device still offers an estimated 10 hours of battery life when used on a flat surface with its tripod legs. However, battery life will be reduced when used handheld, although Insta360 has not provided specific details on the extent of this reduction.

A new mirror on the back of the gimbal's mount allows users to frame themselves while shooting selfies using their smartphone's higher-quality rear cameras, even when the screen isn't visible. Furthermore, Insta360 now enables remote control of the gimbal and recording using an additional smartphone or an Apple Watch. Users can adjust framing by swiping the Apple Watch's screen to pan the gimbal, while zoom can be changed by turning the Digital Crown.

The release of the Flow 2 Pro marks a significant advancement in smartphone gimbal technology, providing users with unparalleled flexibility and precision in capturing group shots. With its advanced AI tracking capabilities and creative framing features, the Flow 2 Pro is poised to revolutionize the world of mobile videography.
