HP has announced a significant expansion of its OmniBook lineup, introducing 18 new laptops that cater to various consumer needs and preferences. The new models, which span across the OmniBook 3, 5, 7, and top-end X lines, boast chip upgrades, innovative designs, and cutting-edge features.

One of the most compelling new additions is the HP OmniBook 7 Aero, a 13.3-inch laptop that weighs a mere 2.2 pounds, making it one of the lightest laptops in its class. This featherweight design is achieved without compromising on performance, as the laptop can be configured with up to an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 (Krackan Point) chip, 1TB SSD, and 32GB of RAM.

In terms of ports, the OmniBook 7 Aero offers an impressive array, including two USB-C (10Gbps) with Power Delivery and DisplayPort 2.1, one 10Gbps USB-A, one slower 5Gbps USB-A, a 3.5mm audio jack, and an HDMI 2.1. The laptop's 13.3-inch display comes in IPS panel configurations with 400 nits of brightness and either 1920 x 1200 or 2560 x 1600 resolution. Powering all of this is a 43Wh battery, which, although relatively small, is expected to provide decent battery life.

Another notable feature in some of the new OmniBooks is the adoption of lattice-less keyboard designs, which have smaller gaps between the keys. While this design has been met with mixed reviews, HP's implementation may be more palatable, as there is still a tiny bit of spacing between the keys. The company claims that the keyboards have been positively received by EliteBook users, allowing for slightly larger keycaps.

In addition to the consumer-focused OmniBooks, HP is also refreshing 20 of its commercial and enterprise-focused laptops in the EliteBook 6 and 8 series. The EliteBook 8, in particular, stands out with its on-device local AI capabilities when configured with 32GB of RAM or more. This feature enables the laptop to handle simpler tasks with lower latency and increased privacy, while also being able to tap into larger cloud-based models for more complex tasks.

While HP has not disclosed pricing information for the new laptops, the company's emphasis on innovation and performance is clear. With the OmniBook and EliteBook lineups, HP is poised to cater to a wide range of users, from consumers to enterprise customers, and further solidify its position in the competitive laptop market.
