GMC has announced significant updates to its Sierra EV lineup, introducing two new trims – Elevation and ATF – to cater to a broader range of customers. The expansion aims to make the electric truck more accessible, with a new base model starting at $64,495.
The Elevation trim will sit below the Denali trim, currently the only version available to customers. While it will lack some premium features and off-roading capabilities, it will offer a more affordable entry point into the Sierra EV family. The Elevation trim will come with a Standard or Extended Range battery, with range estimates to be announced closer to launch.
In contrast, the ATF trim will be the highest-riding Sierra, boasting an additional 2 inches of lift thanks to new coiled suspension and 35-inch tires. ATF models will also share features with GMC's Hummer EV, including four-wheel steer, CrabWalk, and Terrain Mode. However, GMC stresses that the two EVs don't share any physical components.
The Sierra EV lineup now offers a wider selection of battery options, including Standard, Extended, and Max Range packs. The Denali trim will offer all three battery options, while the Elevation and ATF trims will have more limited battery choices. GMC has previously stated that Max Range batteries would provide up to 460 miles of range.
The pricing for the updated Sierra EV lineup is as follows: the base model Elevation with Standard battery starts at $64,495, the Elevation with Extended Range at $72,695, and the premium Extended Range at $78,940. ATF models begin at $81,395 and go up to $91,695, depending on the battery pack. The new base Denali will sell for $71,795, while the reserve Denali with Max Range battery will cost $100,695. All prices include a $2,095 destination charge.
This expansion of the Sierra EV lineup is a strategic move by GMC to increase its market share in the electric truck segment. With a more diverse range of options and prices, GMC aims to appeal to a broader customer base, from those seeking an affordable entry point to those looking for a premium, high-performance electric truck.
The updated Sierra EV lineup is expected to have significant implications for the electric vehicle market, as it increases competition and drives innovation. As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electrification, GMC's move is likely to influence other manufacturers to follow suit and expand their electric offerings.
In conclusion, GMC's introduction of the Elevation and ATF trims to its Sierra EV lineup marks a significant milestone in the electric truck market. With a wider range of options and prices, GMC is poised to make a bigger impact in the industry and appeal to a broader customer base.
