Genesis Unveils One-Off GV60 Snowmobile Concept for Rescue Operations

Hyundai's luxury brand Genesis has taken its electric GV60 SUV to new heights, literally, by transforming it into a snowmobile designed for rescue operations in mountainous terrain. The one-off concept, dubbed the GV60 MIV (Mountain Intervention Vehicle), was unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, showcasing the brand's commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability.

The GV60 MIV swaps its on-road wheels for four snow tracks, allowing it to navigate through rugged snowscapes with ease. The interior features well-bolstered sport seats, medical supplies, and communication systems to ensure the safety of rescue personnel. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped with carbon fiber wheel arc extensions to protect bystanders and minimize debris damage, a roof rack for emergency supplies, and a drone kit included in the trunk.

One of the standout features of the GV60 MIV is its ability to power rescue equipment using the electric vehicle's (EV) battery, making it an environmentally friendly setup that won't pollute the pristine snow. The EV is capable of up to 429 horsepower and has a maximum EPA estimated range of up to 294 miles on a single charge (for the on-road versions). Genesis has also replaced the rearview mirror with a dedicated Garmin GPS Map 276Cx device, which can help rescue teams keep track of their location without the need for a data connection.

This is not the first time Genesis has showcased its innovative concepts at the World Economic Forum. In 2023, the brand presented the Genesis X and the GV70 Snow adventure car, which is designed for off-road fun. The GV60 MIV, on the other hand, is designed for a more serious purpose – to assist in rescue operations in challenging weather conditions.

The unveiling of the GV60 MIV highlights Genesis' commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric vehicle technology and its potential applications. As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, innovative concepts like the GV60 MIV demonstrate the possibilities of electric vehicles in various industries, including rescue operations.

While the GV60 MIV is a one-off concept, it showcases the potential of electric vehicles in rescue operations and could pave the way for future developments in this area. As the electric vehicle market continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how brands like Genesis continue to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible.
