In a significant move to streamline the development process for game creators, Epic Games has officially launched its digital asset marketplace, Fab. This unified platform brings together offerings from the Unreal Engine Marketplace, Sketchfab Store, Quixel, and ArtStation Marketplace, providing a one-stop-shop for developers to acquire digital assets such as environments and animations.
Fab's launch marks a crucial step in Epic's vision to simplify the game development process and potentially pave the way for an interoperable metaverse. The platform offers an attractive 88% revenue share for creators, matching the revenue share offered on the Epic Games Store.
Ahead of the launch, Epic allowed creators to prepare their Unreal Engine Marketplace and Sketchfab products for Fab, with plans to integrate ArtStation Marketplace content in 2025. Notably, the company has reiterated its plans to add support for Roblox and Minecraft assets, as well as access to its hyperrealistic MetaHumans, in future updates.
