In a bold move to outdo its competitors, Dreame has unveiled a revolutionary robot vacuum concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that boasts not only an arm but also legs, enabling it to climb steps and navigate room transitions with ease.
The Dreame X50 Ultra, launched earlier this week, was initially thought to be the most advanced robovac on the market, with its ability to navigate steps and room transitions up to 6cm high using its two legs. However, competitor Roborock quickly responded with its own flagship model, the Saros Z70, which features an arm that can pick up items like socks.
Not to be outdone, Dreame showcased a soon-to-be-released model at its CES booth, combining the step-climbing legs with a robust robotic arm. This arm is capable of picking up items up to 500 grams, significantly more than Roborock's 300-gram limit. According to Dreame, the arm can pick up sneakers as large as men's size 42 (a size 9 in the US) and take them to a designated spot in your home.
The concept of a robovac with an arm and legs opens up a world of possibilities for home cleaning and organization. Users can designate specific areas for the robot to take certain items, such as toys to the playroom and shoes to the front door. While the technology is still in its infancy, the potential for a robovac to assist with daily tasks and chores is vast.
Another innovative feature showcased by Dreame is a separate toolbox with various brushes that the arm can connect to, enabling it to reach into corners and tight spaces where the bot itself cannot go and sweep out the dirt and dust. Additionally, a new base station that dispenses multiple mopping pads allows the robot to choose different pads for different jobs around your home, helping to avoid cross-contamination.
According to Longdong Chen, Dreame's representative, the step-climbing, tool-using, arm-touting bot should be available later this year, although a price has not been announced. Given the advanced technology and features, it's likely that the device will come with a hefty price tag.
The unveiling of Dreame's revolutionary robovac concept at CES marks a significant milestone in the development of robot vacuum technology. As the industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how competitors respond to this innovation and what new features and capabilities will be introduced in the future.
