Cadillac has officially announced the upcoming release of the Optiq-V, a high-performance compact SUV that will join the brand's electric V-series portfolio later this year. The Optiq-V will be the second electric vehicle to receive the coveted V badge, following the reveal of the Lyriq-V earlier this year.
The 2026 Optiq-V will be part of the fifth generation of Cadillac's V-series portfolio, with the company emphasizing agility, suspension, steering, and an "exhilarating driving experience." While specific details, including specs, range, and performance capabilities, have not been released, the standard Optiq's impressive features provide a promising foundation for the high-performance variant.
The standard Optiq, first revealed last year, is a compact electric SUV starting at $54,000, featuring an 85kWh battery pack that can add about 79 miles of range in 10 minutes when plugged into a DC fast charger, for a total range estimate of 300 miles. The Optiq's sportier design, with low-rolling tires, diffusers, and a rear spoiler, makes it an ideal candidate for the V-series treatment.
The dual-motor setup in the standard Optiq puts out 300 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque, which are likely to receive significant upgrades in the V-badged version. For comparison, the Lyriq-V boasts 615 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, and can accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 3.3 seconds, outperforming the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing by a tenth of a second.
The Optiq-V is expected to inherit many of the Lyriq-V's features, including advanced traction management and a "unique sound experience" that simulates an engine growl. The addition of the Optiq-V to Cadillac's lineup underscores the growing trend of performance-oriented electric vehicles, with competitors like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi already offering their own high-performance EVs.
Cadillac's expansion of its electric V-series portfolio demonstrates the brand's commitment to electrification and performance. As the automotive industry continues to shift towards electric powertrains, the Optiq-V is poised to be a significant player in the compact SUV market, offering a unique blend of style, performance, and sustainability.
With the Optiq-V's release later this year, Cadillac is likely to provide more details on the vehicle's specifications, pricing, and availability. As the electric vehicle market continues to evolve, the Optiq-V is sure to be a highly anticipated addition to the brand's lineup.
