ARX Robotics, a startup founded by former German military personnel, has developed a groundbreaking solution to modernize legacy defense equipment. The company's innovative system, akin to an Amazon Firestick, can turn outdated military vehicles into AI-driven devices, such as autonomous-driving trucks. In June, ARX Robotics secured a €9 million seed funding round, led by the NATO Innovation Fund, with support from Project A Ventures and Discovery Ventures. This investment will enable the company to further develop its AI-based operating system, ARX Mithra OS, which transforms military vehicles into intelligent, interconnected autonomous units.

The ARX Autonomy Kit, which includes hardware cameras and sensors, can be mounted onto military trucks or similar vehicles, providing over-the-air updates. Wietfeld, a former member of the German Army, highlighted the limitations of current military equipment, citing the example of the German Armed Forces' procurement of 3,500 Mercedes trucks without software capabilities or interconnectivity.
