Apple Unveils New MacBook Air and Mac Studio with M4 and M3 Ultra Chips

Apple has officially announced the latest additions to its MacBook and Mac Studio lineup, featuring the new M4 and M3 Ultra chips. The tech giant has introduced a slew of new Macs, including the M4-powered MacBook Air and Mac Studio with M4 Max and M3 Ultra chips. The new devices boast improved performance, enhanced features, and sleek designs.

The M4-powered MacBook Air starts at $999 in its 13-inch configuration, while the 15-inch variant starts at $1,199. The laptop features Apple's M4 chip, which the company claims is twice as fast as the M1 chip found in the 2020 model. Both laptops also now support up to two external displays even with the lid still open, and boast the same 12-megapixel Center Stage webcam found in the latest MacBook Pros. Design-wise, they're identical to their M3-powered predecessor, but Apple's now added a new sky blue color option.

In terms of configuration options, the 13-inch MacBook Air can be preordered with a 10-core CPU, eight-core GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage starting at $999. The laptop can also be configured with a 10-core CPU and GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage for $1,199. Meanwhile, the model with 24GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and a 10-core CPU and GPU goes for $1,399. Apple also lets users upgrade storage and RAM, with options to add up to 2TB of storage and 32GB of RAM.

The 15-inch MacBook Air is identical to its 13-inch sibling, aside from size and the fact that it comes with a six-speaker system instead of four. The base model with a 10-core CPU and GPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage starts at $1,099. Users can also configure the laptop with an expanded 512GB of storage for $1,399, or with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for $1,599.

As for the Mac Studio, Apple has introduced two models: the M4 Max Mac Studio and the M3 Ultra-powered Mac Studio. The M4 Max Mac Studio starts at $1,999 and features a 14-core CPU, 32-core GPU, 36GB of RAM, a 16-core neural engine, and 512GB of storage. The M3 Ultra-powered Mac Studio, on the other hand, starts at $3,999 and boasts a 28-core CPU, 60-core GPU, a 32-core Neural Engine, 96GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage.

Both Mac Studio models offer impressive performance upgrades, with the M4 Max model offering up to 3.5x faster performance than the original M1 Max model from 2022. The M3 Ultra-powered Mac Studio, meanwhile, is twice as fast as the M4 Max for GPU and CPU-demanding workloads. The system also boasts "50 percent more performance cores" than its M2 Ultra predecessors.

In terms of availability, both the MacBook Air and Mac Studio models are available for preorder now from Apple, Best Buy, and B&H Photo, with in-store availability set for March 12th.

With the introduction of these new devices, Apple is poised to continue its dominance in the tech industry, offering users powerful and feature-rich devices that cater to their needs. As the tech landscape continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these new devices impact the market and user preferences.
