Apple has officially joined the Ultra Accelerator Link Consortium, a group of tech giants working together to develop a standard called UALink, designed to connect AI accelerator chips in data centers. The UALink consortium, which also includes Alibaba, Synopsys, Intel, AMD, Google, AWS, Microsoft, and Meta, aims to create a standardized way to link together various types of AI accelerator chips, such as GPUs and custom-designed solutions. This would enable faster training, fine-tuning, and running of AI models, ultimately leading to more efficient and powerful AI capabilities.
