Anker has made a splash at CES 2025 with the introduction of two innovative outdoor products: the Solix Solar Beach Umbrella, featuring next-generation perovskite solar cells, and the Solix EverFrost 2 Electric Cooler, which boasts air-cooled refrigeration technology. These products are designed to provide users with sustainable and efficient ways to enjoy the outdoors.
The Solix Solar Beach Umbrella is a game-changer in the world of outdoor gear. Equipped with perovskite solar cells, it can produce up to 100W of total output from XT-60 and USB-C connections, making it possible to keep devices charged indefinitely in sunny environments. Perovskite cells have been shown to outperform traditional silicon-based cells in almost every way, offering 30% better performance in bright light and double the efficiency in low light.
While Anker has not disclosed the origins of its perovskite solar cells or provided details on conversion efficiencies and life expectancy, the technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we harvest energy from the sun. Oxford PV, a UK-based company, has already started commercial sales of solar panels using perovskite-on-silicon cells, boasting a 24.5% efficiency.
The Solix Solar Beach Umbrella itself is a sturdy and portable product, standing over seven feet tall with a six-foot, two-inch diameter. It features an IP67 rating, making it resistant to blowing sand and rain. Although the weight of the umbrella is unknown, it is expected to be available in summer 2025, with pricing details to be announced.
In addition to the solar umbrella, Anker has also unveiled the Solix EverFrost 2 Electric Cooler, available in 23L, 40L, and 58L models. This rugged and portable cooler features six-inch wheels, a fold-down tray that doubles as a handle, and air-cooled refrigeration technology. The latter allows for improved temperature uniformity, faster cooldown, and no need for manual defrosting.
The Solix EverFrost 2 Electric Cooler can provide up to 104 hours of cooling from a pair of detachable 288Wh LFP batteries, which can also be removed to function as power banks. The batteries can be charged via 100W of solar input, a 12V car socket, an AC wall jack, or USB-C connection. Prices for the cooler range from $699 for the 23L model to $999 for the 58L model, with preorders starting on February 21st.
Anker's innovative products are set to change the outdoor gear landscape, offering users sustainable and efficient ways to enjoy the great outdoors. With the Solix Solar Beach Umbrella and Solix EverFrost 2 Electric Cooler, Anker is poised to make a significant impact in the industry.
As the tech industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how Anker's products are received by consumers and how they will shape the future of outdoor gear. One thing is certain – Anker's commitment to innovation and sustainability is a step in the right direction.
