Amazon is taking its virtual assistant Alexa to the next level by enabling users to grocery shop from home using natural conversations. The revamped Alexa experience, dubbed Alexa+, was announced on Wednesday, and it's set to revolutionize the way people shop for groceries online.
The new feature will allow users to interact with Alexa in a more conversational manner, making it easier to build shopping lists and place orders. In a demo, Amazon showed how users can ask Alexa to "make it two and a half gallons instead of a gallon" of milk, and the assistant will adjust the quantity accordingly. Alexa+ can also make recommendations based on user preferences and context. For example, when asked to suggest dinner options for a five-year-old, Alexa was able to recommend pasta options that kids tend to like.
