A new AI startup, Across AI, has emerged from stealth mode with an ambitious goal: to develop a dynamic memory system that can revolutionize complex enterprise workflows. Founded by Steven Mih, the co-founder and CEO of Ahana, which was acquired by IBM last year, Across AI has secured $5.75 million in seed funding to drive its vision forward.
The startup's platform is designed to connect with various internal and external enterprise data sources, creating a shared "agentic memory" that can identify and qualify fresh sales opportunities, spot risks, and suggest questions sales teams should ask their customers. This innovative approach aims to address the common pain points faced by sales teams, including obtaining and utilizing the right information at the right time.
Mih, who sold Ahana to IBM for an undisclosed amount, has teamed up with renowned professors Dr. Niloufar Salehi from UC Berkeley and Dr. Afshin Nikzad from Stanford University to develop the dynamic memory system. The system is designed to continuously adapt, prioritizing relevant information and discarding outdated data, thereby providing sales teams with contextual insights to make informed decisions.
The platform will be available as a web app and chatbot, seamlessly integrating with various parts of the enterprise stack, including CRM systems, communication and collaboration tools, and calendars. By doing so, Across AI aims to provide just-in-time assistance to users, enhancing their workflow without disrupting their existing processes.
Data security and privacy are, of course, top concerns for enterprises, and Mih acknowledges this by emphasizing that data security is a "foundational aspect" of the startup's agentic memory platform. The system operates within the company's secure environment, maintains access control over sensitive information, and does not expose data to external models for training. Across AI plans to offer both SaaS and cloud-premises deployment options to meet enterprise security and compliance requirements.
The synergies between Mih's previous startup, Ahana, and Across AI are evident. Ahana specialized in enabling users to query vast amounts of data via Presto, and Across AI is addressing the same problem but through a different lens. Mih believes that a core differentiator for AI application companies will be their ability to help users analyze large amounts of data quickly, which is exactly what he specialized in at Ahana.
As Across AI refines its product with design partners in private, it is poised to make a significant impact on the enterprise technology landscape. With its seed funding in place, the startup is on track to launch its commercial product in 2025, promising to revolutionize the way sales teams work and make decisions.
The implications of Across AI's dynamic memory system are far-reaching, with the potential to transform various industries and sectors. As the startup continues to develop and refine its platform, it will be exciting to see how its innovative approach can address the complex challenges faced by enterprises today.
